If they stopped showing up, we’d all feel it.
Faces of Wyndham: Those Who Give is an independent, self-funded fine art portrait series by Melbourne and Point Cook portrait photographer David Mullins.
It was created to honour the volunteers, carers, mentors, emergency workers, cultural leaders, and everyday changemakers who shape Wyndham, Hobsons Bay, and Melbourne’s west.
This chapter is a direct continuation of the original Faces of Wyndham the five-year portrait series documenting the cultural diversity of our region.
Where the first series celebrated identity and heritage, Those Who Give focuses on individuals who serve their community without expecting anything in return.
Together, both chapters form a growing visual archive of Wyndham: its people, its spirit, and the quiet impact of those whose contributions often go unseen.

Who This Is For
Recognising Those Who Give Back
This series is for people across Wyndham, Point Cook, Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, and Melbourne’s west who strengthen our community through quiet, meaningful contribution. These are individuals whose service isn’t commercial, public, or celebrated — but without them, our region wouldn’t be the same.

- Volunteers and carers
- Emergency services workers and first responders
- Mentors, educators, and community guides
- Cultural leaders and behind-the-scenes organisers
- Advocates, helpers, and quiet changemakers
It’s not about titles or achievements.
It’s about presence, kindness, generosity, and the people who serve because it’s simply who they are.
The Process
Nomination-Based, Studio-Portrait Project
Each participant is photographed by David in his Point Cook studio. Every session is guided by the subject’s story, with a focus on capturing depth, dignity, and authenticity.
Each session includes:
- A private 60-minute portrait session
- A story-driven pre-session questionnaire
- One final portrait chosen by David
- Respectful behind-the-scenes content (optional)
This is not a commercial shoot. No digital files or extras are provided.

Faces of Wyndham: Those Who Give exists to make sure the quiet work that holds our community together is not forgotten. Wyndham, Point Cook, Werribee, and the wider Melbourne’s west region are full of people who serve without applause. This series was created to document that, honour it, and preserve it for future generations.

- Capture and preserve their contribution through fine-art portraiture

- Strengthen local identity by recording real stories from Wyndham’s community
The final portraits will be shared through an online gallery, social media, and a future public exhibition creating a lasting visual record of the volunteers, carers, emergency workers, and community leaders who give so much to Melbourne’s west.
How to Nominate Someone
Wyndham is full of people who give quietly — volunteers, carers, emergency service workers, mentors, organisers, and neighbours who make Melbourne’s west a better place simply by showing up.
If you know someone whose quiet contribution deserves to be recognised in this portrait series, you can nominate them below.
We welcome nominations from across Point Cook, Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Truganina, and the wider Wyndham community.
Nominations are open for an ongoing period as the series continues to grow.
Every nomination is carefully reviewed by David and a small advisory panel. Because this is a fine-art documentary project, spaces are limited and only selected individuals will be contacted.
Important Details
- Sessions are free and by invitation only
- Portraits are photographed in David’s Point Cook studio
- No digital files, proofs, or unused images will be released
- A signed release form is required for participation
- Under-18s must attend with a parent or guardian
- David selects the final portrait included in the series to ensure consistency across this documentary project
About the Artist
Faces of Wyndham is the work of photographer and visual artist David Mullins. The project began in 2019 after David realised that the people who make up Australia’s most diverse community were not being documented in any meaningful or lasting way. Wyndham was changing rapidly, yet there was no visual record that captured the depth, humanity and identity of the people who lived here.
David’s focus has always been the person, not the performance. His portraits come from listening, patience and giving people the space to be themselves. His belief is simple: ordinary people deserve to be seen, their stories deserve to be kept and their presence deserves to be treated with dignity.
Faces of Wyndham is the most extensive portrait undertaking of David’s career. It stands not only as an artistic project but as a cultural document a record created by one artist who believed the people of Wyndham deserved to be remembered.
